Deal Island – Guilford Hillman Abbott, Jr, 79, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 at home.
Born in Wenona on January 31, 1939, he was the son of the late Guilford and Lillie (White) Abbott, Sr.
Guilford worked as an engineer for C.J.Langenfelder. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and Local 25-Marine Division.
He is survived by his wife Donna and children Dawn Benton of Federalsburg, Kristal Abbott of Delmar, and Shane Abbott of Deal Island, sister Marie Johnson of Princess Anne, step sons, Dennis Jewell of Virginia and Jay Seward of Deal Island, half-sister Carol Black, half-brothers, Pat, Kerry, and Bruce Abbott, 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Guilford Abbott III, Dana J. Abbott, and Debbie Abbott, grandchildren Little Gussie, Cameron, and Frank Howard, sister Anne Bratcher, brothers William and Thomas Abbott, Johnny and Earl White, and half-brother Darryl Abbott.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 15, 2018 at St. John's United Methodist Church in Deal Island with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Church Cemetery. Rev. David Webster will officiate.
