Gerald Dean Nicholson, 72, of Salisbury, passed away November 30, 2015 at his home in Salisbury. Born in Girdletree, on May 21, 1943 to Vernon and Mary Dennis Nicholson. Gerald began his career in 1974 with an IBEW apprenticeship program as a Journeyman Wireman. He worked 43 years in Md., De., W. Va., Pa., and Ohio as an Electrician. Gerald was a member of the Antique Car Club, the Delmarva Late Great Chevys of Salisbury, The O. C. Cruisers of Ocean City, The Eastern Shore Chapter AACA, and a National member of the AACA. He was a 40 year member of Faith Community Church and held many offices within the Church through the years. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, serving in the 101 st. Airborne. He was a Lifetime member of VFW Meuse Post and a member of American Legion Post 64.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra Nicholson, two daughters Tammy Nicholson McWilliams (Jeff) of Salisbury, and Christina Nicholson McNair (Mike) of Lacey, Washington. He leaves five grandchildren, Chelsea and Jocelyn McWilliams, Randy, Candace, and Bryan McNair, and two Great-grandchildren, Ella and Sadie McNair. He also leaves a brother in-law, Edward Smith ( Liz) of Upper Fairmount, a sister In-law Kathy Derby ( Mark) of Hebron, a niece Jami Greenwood, a Great niece, Tahli Chesnutt, and nephews Mark Nicholson and David Brown. His late Step-mother was Jane Nicholson and a late brother was Vernon Wayne Nicholson. Family was very dear to Gerald. His cousins were like brothers and sisters and he leaves many to mourn his loss. Gerald had a friendly greeting for everyone he meant. He enjoyed the time spent with other antique car enthusiasts. He was a true patriarch of his family, caring deeply for each of them. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Faith Community Church at 219 N. Division St., in Salisbury. The Rev. Harvey Dixon and the Rev. Gilbert Newnam will officiate.
