"Snooky" Walston, Jr.
October 8, 1944 – August 20, 2023
Princess Anne - We are sad to announce the passing of George T. "Snooky" Walston, Jr. of Princess Anne, MD. Snooky, the son of George T. Walston Sr. and Geneva Gannon, was born in Salisbury, Maryland on October 8, 1944, and peacefully passed on August 20, 2023.
Snooky attended and graduated from Washington High School in Princess Anne. Following graduation Snooky served with the army in Vietnam and after returning home he married Gwen Keene. On November 29th of this year, they would have celebrated 55 years of marriage together.
Snooky was a Maryland Master plumber and in 1983 he started and ran his own plumbing business, George T. Walston, Jr & Son Plumbing and Heating, and continued to work until recent weeks.
Well known in his community of Princess Anne, Snooky held many positions in the O.T Beauchamp Post 94, was part of the Somerset Ruritans club, and served in the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Department. Snooky also enjoyed taking part in many fundraising events like the Eric Munk softball tournament and the Michael P. Cooper benefit. Along with his love of community, Snooky enjoyed working on and showing his 1964 Ford Galaxy. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, camping, and meeting with his coffee club. One of the things Snooky was most proud of was his service to his country and being a Vietnam Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Linda, and brother Johnny. Surviving in addition to his wife Gwen, are his son Kenny and his wife Tina, whom both he was very close to. Also survived are his Aunt Frances Gannon, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and his best 4-legged buddy "Jackson".
There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony held Saturday, August 26th at the American Legion Post 94 in Princess Anne, MD. Friends and family may call 11-12 am with the Ceremony beginning at 12 noon until. Dress attire will be casual and come as you are.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Princess Anne Fire Department and the American Legion Post 94 in Princess Anne.
We would like to thank everyone for their kind words, phone calls, prayers, text messages, foods, and flowers. We would also like to send a special thank you to all Snookie's customers over these past 40 years. Snooky was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
