George "Joey" Edward Kelly, 67 passed Monday, September 3, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born January 2, 1945′ Joey was a lifelong resident of Wenona. He was the son of the late Champ Clark Kelly and the late Emma Custis Kelly.
After graduation, Joey worked for Campbell soup Co. until their closing. He then went to work for Somerset County, and worked until his health would no longer allow. Joey always enjoyed entertaining the children by dressing and playing Santa at Christmas, for family gatherings, church functions and whenever anyone requested. He enjoyed making the children laugh and smile. He also loved animals and would feed all the strays.
Joey spent the last two years at Manokin Manor along with his brother Bobby, sharing precious Memories, time and morning coffee, just as they had done so many years ago. Joey was grateful for he nurses and assistants that cared for his needs these last years. Whenever we see a Thanksgiving Turkey leg, or hear loose change jingle in a pocket, Joey will return to our thoughts.
