George Wayne Cross, 61, of Shelltown, Md. departed this life on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and seven daughters.
He was a devoted father and husband, with a great sense of humor. George was a talented heavy equipment operator, who was admired by many. Whether, planting a tree or a garden, he wanted to be outside.
He was born on March 11, 1950 and was preceeded in death by his father, mother, and brother. He is survived by wife of 37 years, Janet, and daughters, Charlene and Jim Selby, of Girdletree, Md., Darlene and Christopher Brady, of Princess Anne, Md. Georganna and Jason Whitelock, of Concord, N.C., Jenny and David Hoffman, of Pocomoke, Md., Sara and Tom Jones, of Crisfield, Md., Missy and Paul Ziolowski, of Westover, Md. and Panda and Ross Cullen, of Crisfield, Md.
He is also survived by two sisters, Linda Hakenson of Odenton, Md. and Delores Gebhart of Pasadena, Md., 22 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the Rehobeth Baptist Church, in Rehobeth, on Sunday, January 8th. at 2:00 PM. where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Cross Family Cemetery at 4056 Back Shelltown Road, Marion, Md. Pastor Tom Maddox will officiate. Family and Friends are Welcome.
