Obituary

The earthly life of Frank Herzins ended on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 after 71 years. He was a teacher, husband, and man of God. Three of the highlights of his 35 year career in education included: serving as one of six people on the National Student Council Advisory Board and meeting in the Oval Office; traveling with students all over Canada and Europe and serving as their guide; and organizing a foreign exchange program with students from Japan. It was rare to go anywhere that he did not run into his former students who were highly complimentary of him as their teacher and advisor or guide.
In his later years, he entered into the business world. Working for a local car dealership, he helped the dealership win prestigious awards from corporate headquarters by ensuring that all aspects of dealership responsibility were implemented and all employees completed the corporate training and certifications. He also shared in the partnership of a business with his wife that proved to be very successful. Charlene was the love of his life, and they were happily married for 34 years.
As a man, Frank was full of life. He enjoyed being with people, telling jokes, and helping others. As an example, he was generous in caring for his wife's mother who stayed with them for 13 years. The love he showed others was rooted and founded in Christ. The supreme test came when he got the diagnosis of an aggressive type of cancer. In response to the news, he said he and Charlene had been richly blessed throughout their lives, and now God was going to see what they were made of. He never complained and never asked why. Instead, he faced the future with dignity, courage, and faith. And so he died as he had lived, full of faith in God and love for others.
There will be visitation from 9:00-10:00 AM on Saturday, November 18 at Parkway Church of God in Salisbury followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM. Services will conclude at Springhill Memory Gardens directly after the service.
If desired, donations can be sent in Frank's name to either: Parkway Church of God, 600 Edison Street Salisbury, Maryland 21801 or Coastal Hospice at The Lake, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
