Oriole – Francis P. Lawrence, 93, of here passed away at home on Sunday, July 4, 2021.
Born in Salisbury, MD on August 7, 1927, he was the son of the late Preston and Anna (Muir) Lawrence and stepmother Marian Lawrence. Francis was a farmer and worked for 40 years at Acme Markets as a meat cutter. He was the originator of the well-known St. Peter's Oriole sausage. Francis was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Oriole, Somerset County Farm Bureau and the Somerset Ruritan Club.
In addition to his parents and stepmother, Francis was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Nellie Reid Lawrence, and son Gary Lawrence.
He is survived by his son Reid Lawrence and his wife Vanessa of Princess Anne, MD, grandchildren, Wendy Kellam (Brian), Melissa Lawrence, Ryan Lawrence (Cathy), Kim Davenport, and C.J. Davenport (Kristin), and five great grandchildren, Lauren, Ty, Preston, Courtney and Joselynn, and daughter in law, Gayle Lawrence of Princess Anne, MD.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Hinman Funeral Home, P.A. 11673 Somerset Ave, Princess Anne, MD where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Charles Jacobson will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Oriole, MD.
