In Loving Memory of Emily Boston Ent

Emily Boston Ent, 97, of Princess Anne, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024. Born on June 2, 1927, to Charlie S. and Irene Dryden Boston, she was raised on the family's farm in Perryhawkin, where she learned the values of hard work and community that guided her throughout her life. She graduated from Washington High School in 1945 and, shortly thereafter, married her high school sweetheart, John L. Ent Sr., on June 16, 1945. Together, they shared 64 years of love and devotion.

Emily worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 30 years and, alongside her career, managed the financial side of the family farm. While her husband, John, focused on the day-to-day operations, Emily ensured the business side of the farm ran smoothly, contributing to its long-term success. Their life was centered around hard work, love, and family. She loved being part of the farming community and, through both her work and farm life, she got to know many farmers across the region, forming lasting relationships that she treasured deeply.

She was an active member of her community and involved in numerous organizations, including Antioch Church, Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Princess Anne Lions Club, O.T. Beauchamp American Legion Post 94 Ladies Auxiliary, Manokin Eastern Star, Somerset County Civic Center Board, Somerset Women's Club, and Ocean City She Shells. In 1990, she was elected to the Somerset County Central Committee and later served on the Somerset County Election Board.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Ent Sr., her parents, Charlie and Irene Boston, and her brothers Charles, Edward, and Richard Boston. She is survived by her son, John Ent Jr., and his wife, Gayle Burkins; granddaughter Erin Daniels and her husband, Shane; granddaughter Lane Mister and her husband, JR; grandson Stephen Ent; and her cherished great-granddaughters, Ava and Chloe Daniels, Karris and Quinn Mister, and Katelynn Fisher. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Janet Boston, along with many special nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Family was everything to Emily. She found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. Nothing brought her more happiness than hosting family gatherings where love and laughter were always in abundance. As the matriarch of her family, she was a guiding light, always offering love, wisdom, and support to those around her. She loved being part of a small, close-knit community, and her passion for volunteering never wavered throughout her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Emmanuel Cemetery ℅ Orville Dryden, P.O. Box 1, Princess Anne, MD 21853, Coastal Hospice, or the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company, all causes close to her heart.

A funeral service to celebrate Emily's life will be held October 7, 2024, at 11 AM at Antioch Church, 11656 Somerset Avenue, Princess Anne, MD where a visitation will be from 10-11 AM. Interment will follow at St. Andrews Cemetery with a luncheon immediately after at Antioch Church Fellowship Hall.

Her presence in our lives will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, service, and community will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
