Ella Mae Shirk, 80, of Salisbury, Maryland passed away on November 10th, 2021. She spent her last moments on this earth surrounded by her loved ones.
Ella Mae was born on July 5th 1941 to Gertrude and Emory Wessells in Bloxom, Virginia. She graduated from Pocomoke High School in 1959 and went on to meet the love of her life, Eugene Shirk, while working at the Riverside Market in Pocomoke. They were married on June 25th in 1960.
Ella Mae started her career as a telephone operator for over 35 years. Ella and Eugene had two children David and Cheryl Shirk. They were also blessed with three grandchildren Dylan and Gatlin Shirk, and Jessica Amthor. Ellas late sister was Lavenia Mears Browne and her late brother was Robert Wayne Wessells
Ella Mae was the most hardworking woman you could ever meet. She loved and cared for everyone who crossed her path. The love she gave her family and friends was limitless. Every waking moment, she spent taking care of others.
Ella Mae died after a long battle with cancer. The world feels darker without Ella in it.
Services will be held on Monday, November 15th at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne. The viewing will begin at 10 am and the service will be held at 11 am. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne, MD.
