Eleanor Louise Propst Smith, 83, of Princess Anne, formerly of Stockton, joined Jesus in the House of the Lord, on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 , surrounded by her family, at Aurora Senior Living Of Manokin Nursing Home in Princess Anne. Born in Princess Anne on Dec. 27, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Cecil E. Propst and Emma Benson Propst.
Mrs. Smith was a devoted Christian, and prayer warrior, who was a member of First Baptist Church in Princess Anne. She was very proud of her career with the US Postal Service. She worked in both Girdletree and Stockton post offices and retired as Postmistress of Stockton post office. She was a Fox news enthusiast and stayed current with US politics. She enjoyed traveling and visited many countries including Israel, Lithuania, and Puerto Rico. She was married to the late Harvey C. Smith (1993).
She is survived by five children, Jim Smith and his wife Irina Romanova of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Danny Smith Sr. and his wife Patti of Pocomoke, Carl Smith and his wife Terri of Snow Hill, Tara Smith of Princess Anne and Patty Berley and her husband Sam of Princess Anne. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Arnas Romanova, Galina Romanova, Daniel Smith, Eric Smith. Todd Smullen, Scott Smullen, Stacy Smith-Jones, Joshua Berley and Rachel Berley, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Kamrin Smith, Mikaela Perry, Gracie Perry, Shyanne Smullen, Sierra Smullen, Bradley Pearce Smullen and Adam Jones. She is also survived by a sister, Edith Nichols and two brothers, Harold and Bunky Propst as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne where friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. The Rev. Jerry Hughes will officiate. Interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
