Edward L. Gesser, Sr. 77, of Chance, MD (formerly of Pasadena, MD), passed away on January 11, 2022.
Born March 16, 1944 in Baltimore, MD, Edward was the son of Mary Ann (Kane) Gesser and Norman C. Gesser.
Edward attended Edmondson High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he traveled the world aboard the USS Constellation. He married the love of his life, Bernadette, in 1965 and was very proud of his three children and six grandchildren. For over 30 years, Edward worked at Chemetals and retired in 2004. He enjoyed time with his family and especially loved living on the Tangier Sound. He was an avid sports fan cheering on the Ravens, Maryland Terrapins, and Navy. In his retirement, he enjoyed visiting the casino, traveling, and was proud to have visited most of the fifty states. For those who were lucky to know him, Edward was most known for his kindness, his work ethic, and his sense of humor.
Edward is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bernadette Steinhice Gesser, his son Edward L. Gesser Jr. and wife Lisa of Mechanicsville, MD, daughter Michelle Weisgerber and husband Paul of Pasadena, MD, and six grandchildren: Haley, Edward III, Sydney, Lindsey, Jacob, and Joseph. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Margaret Mary Gesser.
A funeral Mass of Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Westover, MD. Family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:30. A Western Shore Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Mid Atlantic 6555 Rock Spring Drive #280, Bethesda, MD 20816.
