Edward J. "Bunky" Price, 86, of Princess Anne, passed away on March 1st 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side
The subject of a long-standing family joke, Bunky was born on either August 3rd or 4th, 1927 in Salisbury, MD. In addition to his parents, Mahlon and Orpah Price, Bunky was preceded in death by a sister, Una Denston (Harry), a brother, Roger "Bro" Price (Becky), a brother-in-law, Bill Hoffman, a son, Alan "Jaye" Price and a grandson, Patrick Robert Price.
Memories of Bunky will be cherished by his surviving family members, including his wife of 65 years, Dorothy "Anne" Price; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lee and Carol Price, and daughter-in-law, Lori Price and her companion Mike Tilghman, all of Princess Anne; three grandchildren, Edward Price (Jane) of Traverse City, MI, Andy Price (Brittany), and Nicholas Price, all of Princess Anne; two step-grandchildren, Rob Price of Pocomoke and Amie Price of Melfa, VA; two great grand children, Caroline and Grayson Price, of Princess Anne; his sister, Lois Hoffman of Princess Anne, as well countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including a very special friend that he loved like a brother, Leroy "Mose" Hall
A 1945 graduate of Washington High School, Bunky proudly served in the United States Navy from 1945-48. Upon discharge from the service, Bunky returned to Somerset County and started a career as a public accountant. Bunky joined the Bank of Somerset as a teller, eventually working his way up the ladder to serve as President of the Bank, until it was sold to Mercantile Bank Shares where he served as Senior Vice President before retiring in 1977. Thereafter, Bunky worked in various positions for his native Somerset County, including 15 years as the County's Auditor, and another 20 years with the County's Liquor Board, where he managed three stores until his health started failing him in 2013.
Bunky was always the life of the party, and loved spending time with friends and serving his community. Until his death, Bunky was active in many civic organizations including the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company (60 years service), the Monie Creek Gunning Club (charter member), the Salisbury Moose Lodge, the Crisfield Elks Club, and was welcomed with open arms to many other civic and political organizations.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 5th 2014 at 1 p.m. at Hinman's Funeral Home, in Princess Anne, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. There will also be a visitation on Tuesday, March 4th, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial wl be held at Beechwood Cemetery.
