Obituary

Salisbury – Edna Mae Widdowson, 94, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, MD
Edna Mae was born August 19, 1927 in Mt. Vernon, MD, a daughter of the late Herman and Fiona Dashiell. After graduating from high school, she began her career as a legal secretary in Somerset County, MD. She was later employed by the Somerset County Commissioners, the Somerset County Dept. of Social Services, and the District Court of Somerset County, where she retired as a Civil Clerk in 1988. Aside from her most favorite job of being the mother of her two children, she very much enjoyed working in the legal field. She was a very loving, compassionate, and giving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princess Anne, MD.
In addition to her parents, Edna Mae is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Edmund L. Widdowson, Sr., her sister, Mildred Webster, and her siblings Walter and Hazel Dashiell who died early in childhood. She is survived by her son, Edmund L. Widdowson, Jr. (Bambi) of Salisbury, MD and her daughter, Sheila W. Darrah (Rick) of Fruitland, MD; three grandchildren, Kelly W. Smith (Steven) of Princess Anne, MD, Jay Darrah (Caitlin) of Lutherville, MD, and Brett Darrah of Stoney Beach, MD; three great grandsons, Noah Smith, Aidan Smith, and Rory Darrah; a sister June D. Burton of Salisbury, MD, a special niece, Donna Webster of Salisbury, MD, and sister-in-law, Ruth Widdowson of Ocean Pines, MD, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne, MD. Pastors James Devaughn and Mark Thomas will officiate.
