IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edgar E.
Evans
November 8, 2015
Edgar E. Evans, 89, passed away peacefully on November 8,2015 with loving family by his side. He was born on January 31, 1926 and was one of ten children born to the late Arthur G. and Lula Thomas Evans.
After graduating high school in California, Edgar joined the Army in 1945 and proudly served his country during WWII. He was stationed in Germany when the war ended. His service to his country was his most proud achievement and he never tired of speaking of it. Edgar and his family returned to the Eastern Shore and he resided and cared for his mother until her passing in 1964. Wanting only the simple things in life, Edgar was a handyman for neighbors and friends in and around the Princess Anne area and could be seen by all walking to Princess Anne from his home in West Post Office. Edgar became a local Icon in Princess Anne and there were few people that did not know him. A caring and gentle person, Edgar was also known for infinite and astounding knowledge of history, music, art and sports. He was an avid reader and in later years enjoyed his card playing marathons with his brother and nephews.
Edgar is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins located throughout the country along with a host of friends that cared for him deeply.
Edgar was preceded in death by four brothers, Granville Evans, Robert Lee Evans, Arthur G. Evans and Thomas Edison Evans, five sisters Virginia E. Frampton, Laura Elizabeth Powell, Martha Ann Riggin, Katie Evans, and Jessie Evans.
The family wishes to thank Coastal Hospice for their care, support and compassion during his last days.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Olivet Christian Cemetery near Snow Hill. The Rev. Larry Reed will Officiate.
