DEAL ISLAND-Dorothy Marion Jones, 83, died Tuesday, August 16,2011, at her home in Deal Island. Born Feb. 14,1928, in Bristol England, she was the daughter of the late Francis L. Griffiths and Edna Phyllis Cole. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harvey Alexander Jones.
Dorothy served in the British Military during WW 11. She retired from the Somerset Department of Social Services in Princess Anne, Was a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church on Deal Island, the Deal Island Chance Ladies Auxiliary and the WSCS. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and an excellent cook.
She is survived by her children, Michael Jones and his wife Lana, of Deal Island and Karen Webster (Conrad Corcoran) of Tucson, Az., two grandchildren, Chris Jones and his wife Tara of Chance Md. and Taylor Corcoran of Tucson, Az. , one great-grandchild, Alex Christopher Jones, Sisters Mary Saunders and Valerie Way of Bristol England. Preceding her in death were her brothers, Leslie and Bernard Griffiths both of Bristol, England.
A Funeral service will be held Saturday August 20th. at 2:00 pm. , at the St. John's United Methodist Church in Deal Island. Where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Lloyd Foard and the Rev. Steve Willing will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, c/o Jeff Webster, at 10226 Hotel Rd.
