The world lost and heaven gained one of the finest daughter, sister, friend, and wife to have existed on God's green earth at 10:41 AM on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 following a sixteen month long battle with lung cancer.Dorothy was born and raised in the south Baltimore neighborhood of Curtis Bay. She attended public schools graduating from Eastern High School and immediately went to work at W.R. Grace Davison Chemical Division until her early retirement in 1996.Throughout her career she, held numerous supervisory positions both at the Baltimore office and the Curtis Bay plant retiring as shipping supervisor for Molecular Sieves Department.In addition to working full time she prided herself at being a fine homemaker. Always looking forward to the next gathering of family and or friends. Whether it be spur of the moment or her traditional Christmas Eve open house she was always ready to feed anyone. She enjoyed boating, fishing, and crabbing. She held a commercial crabbing license for over 30 years. She met her husband in 1966 and married him on Sept. 22, 1969. They lived on the bay front of the Pasadena peninsula viewing the eastern shore until 1998 when they moved to their summer home in Champ, MD. They built a new home in Chance, Md in 2001 and relocated to Crisfield, MD in 2015. Dorothy passed away in the arms of her husband on their 49th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband Donald Lee Braithwaite, her sister-in-law Freda Ga rpstas nieces Susan Hose and Brenda Garpstas, great nephew Brian Garpstas and wife Kelly, numerous great- great nieces, cousin Mildred Davidowicz. Also survived by her childhood idol cousin and friend Anne (Garpstas) Ellis and husband Paul, her cousin Buddy Brengle and his wife Linda who she failed to visit. He will miss her coconut cake. And finally her special friends David and Elisabeth Horner. She was precede in death by her parents Joseph and Margaret Garpstas and a brother JosephGarpstas Jr. I leave you with what you expressed to your husband for 52 years each time you had to part company: "be good be careful and I love you" Service will be grave side in Glen Haven, Glen Burnie MD
