Doris Elizabeth Parks, 86, of Tyaskin, died Monday, January 18, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Costen, Md on April 29, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Richard Joseph Barry and Elizabeth Fleetwood Barry. Her first husband, Benjamin F. Wright, died in 1947. She later married James W. Parks, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1989.

Doris was a longtime resident of Mt. Vernon who loved to cook and was a seamstress.

She is survived by a daughter, Diane Wright Schevel of Tyaskin and a son James W. Parks, Jr. and his wife Martha of Princess Anne; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A son, Ronald Wright, died in 1993.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 2pm at the First Baptist Church in Princess Anne where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Jamie DeVaughn and Rev. Harvey Dixon will officiate. Interment will be held in Asbury United Methodist Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
