He had several grandchildren; a granddaughter Mackenzie Chamberlin and grandson Joshua Chamberlin, both of Salisbury. Don was also survived by another granddaughter Jessica Truitt of Eden and grandsons, Lee, Dylan, and Dustin Bloodsworth and Brandon and Nathan Truitt, all of Princess Anne and a great-grandson Aaron Shane Johnson Jr. of Eden. Don also had two great nieces; Christina Winstead of Rocky Mount, NC and Katie Winstead of Pasadena, MD. He is also survived by a special friend of the last two years, Artis Marie of Salisbury. He was preceded in death by both his mother and father.
Although Don might have been born on August 24th, 1938, that was only the beginning of the dash that started his life. He was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1956. Don was the youngest lifeguard in Ocean City for his time when he was a teen as well as Boca Rotan, Fl. He attended Drexel University. During his first year, he was on the rifle team and traveled the country for competitions. Don was also in ROTC during college becoming one of the Nation's top marksmen.
After he finished college he went to work for Sears as the East Coast Regional HVAC and appliance repair/service Instructor also including Puerto Rico. In 1972 he opened Chamberlin Service and was a successful businessman, loved by many of his loyal customers. He retired in February 2004, fully turning the company over to his son and daughter-in-law who still maintain what he started as a legacy to be passed on for generations to come. Don was best known for the love of passing on his knowledge and training to many men, which have since started their own successful businesses. Don had a special place in his heart for 2 of Chamberlin's employees; Wayne Howard of Crisfield, and Leonard Leach of Princess Anne. He was so caring about his technicians that he spent many days and nights working with them to help ensure their knowledge in their areas of expertise and making them feel as an important part of the Chamberlin Family.
Outside of the business, Don served on, as well as, held various officiating positions/chairs on the boards for professional licensing in HVACR, Plumbing, and Electric for Somerset County. He was a former member of the Westover Moose Lodge. Don loved many things in life. He was an avid dog lover and outdoorsman. He loved motorcycles and enjoyed hunting and simply watching the deer feed on the fig bushes outside of his home. In his final dash towards going home to be with the Lord, he endured some medical issues. Some of which he beat with his internal strength he's always had.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Don's name to Hinman Funeral Home ~ 11673 Somerset Ave. ~ Princess Anne, MD 21853, 410-651-0990 to help cover his final expenses, as he didn't have insurance. Below is a poem written especially for the children.

~~~ Angel Dad! ~~~
You may have had your faults & flaws; as we all do,
They're part of what made you the man that you were.
We children were the same way,
Even just as stubborn as you.
You weren't the strictest of parents,
But you made it known when we did wrong.
Every one that met you, knew you were a 1 of a kind man.
Life would be so much easier,
If you hadn't just become our Angel Dad!
You have returned home with the Lord at the end of your dash
Reassuringly to reunite with your mom and dad.
My dearest Angel Dad,
We feel your love, support & most importantly, your spirit.
These shall never pass or leave us.
You will remind us of your love & support,
Every day in your own special way!
You always called your daughter your special Angel!
Everyone knew she was your pride & joy.
Now her role has changed slightly,
She is still & always will be the light of your eyes,
Your pride & joy & your Angel Baby!
With the curve life has thrown our way,
Now it is your time to be at peace,
And now, just be our ANGEL DAD!
(Love your Daughter-In-Law)-klb
