Cleveland TN - Donald G. Brittinghampassed away at his home in Cleveland Tennesseeon April 14th, 2023 at age 93and went to be with the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gerri, and other family members.
Don was drafted in the Army in 1951 and stationed in Germany.Twice while in the service he was invited to Christmas dinner with local German families.He loved his country and was a proud veteran. Most important to Don was his relationship with God, his church, and the bus ministry that he started to reach out to many unchurched children in the surrounding community. In just sevenyears,the bus ministry grew to multiple buses, drivers, and an additional 200+ children and adults added to their church family. Don and Gerri moved to Florida in 1990 after he retired from the United States Department of Agriculture.
He is preceded in death by their children Merle Brittingham and DaphneBrittinghamMiller. Don is also preceded in death by his father and mother, John Brittinghamand DaphneBrittingham, stepmother, MelbaBrittinghamand brothers JackBrittingham, Charles Brittingham, Bobby Brittingham, and Miles Brittingham, all from Crisfield.
Don is survived by his brother, PalBrittingham, Shirley Abbott, son-in-law, Pat Miller,granddaughters, Rachel Savatvong, and Sarah Miller, great-grandchildren, Jason Gant, Raven Gant, and Elizabeth "Libby" Savatvong, nieces and nephews, Sandy Webb, Bunk Tull, Vicky Benton, Miles Brittingham, Jr., BobbyBrittingham, JohnnyBrittingham, Jewel Riggin, Richard Willis, Dr. Clark and Denise Willis, and Krista Holt.
A viewing followed by a funeral service will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Christ Fellowship Bible Church, 5910 Crisfield Hwy, Marion Station, MD. Bishop Fred Abbott will officiate. Interment to follow the service in the Brittingham Family Cemetery.
