Diane B. Ballard, 71, of Westover, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury following a valiant battle with cancer.

She was born in Princes Anne on March 10, 1954 and was a daughter of the late Linwood and Reba Dykes Butler.  Her husband of 47 years, Donald Lee Ballard, preceded her in death on June 26, 2022.

A graduate of Washington High School, she later worked at the high school in many capacities over the years including substitute teacher, secretary, and special education aid.  Following her retirement, she worked at Princess Anne Elementary School.

Diane truly loved her career and working with children.  She was an inspiration to her students and fellow co-workers and was a good friend and confidante to them all.  Most of all, she loved her family, and adored doting on her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Rachel Ballard of Salisbury and Joshua Ballard and wife Whitney of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Cameron Ballard, Zahiya Baker, Lennon Ballard, Harbor Ballard, and Damien Carreras; her siblings, Mary "Jo" Whaley, Woody Butler, Richard Butler and wife Jenny, Shaun Butler, and Dean Butler; a special niece, Michelle Whaley; her aunt and uncle, Eileen and Ned Dykes; and in-laws, Ken Ballard, Tinker Ballard, and Martha Ballard.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD
