Princess Anne

Obituary

David Heron Redden, 88, of Princess Anne, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at his home.

Born and raised on the family farm in Girdletree, MD, he was a son of the late James and Mary Vanderhoof Redden. His wife, Rebecca Jane Gaskill Redden, preceded in death.

Mr. Redden was retired from Webcraft Industries in Salisbury and prior worked at Chesapeake Bay Plywood until their closing. Over the years he owned several gas stations, was a farmer, and in the 1970’s was an automotive mechanic teacher in Worcester County Schools.

He was a US Air Force veteran, serving 12 years during the Korean and Vietnam War eras, and attended Klej Grange Church. He loved fishing, hunting in his younger years, and riding his bicycle to Hardees in Princess Anne for breakfast with his friends most recently. Most of all he was proud of his heritage, being raised on Sandy Ridge Farm in Girdletree which has been in his family for over 250 years.

He is survived by his son. James M. “Jimmy” Redden (Kay); his grandchildren, Brenda Beehler (Michael) and Brandon Beehler; his great-grandchildren, Emily, Mike and Brooklyn; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ginger Tarr; and his siblings, George “Bucky”, Mary Jane and Frances.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
