Curtis Leland Hancock, 45 ( formerly of Salisbury, Md) died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at his home in New Carrollton, Md. Born in Salisbury on November 18, 1967, he was a son of Floyd and Betty Sturgis Hancock also of Salisbury.
Curtis was a 1985 graduate of Washington High School in Princess Anne, Md., a 2004 graduate of Sojourner Douglas College, a certified paralegal, and notary public. He served with the Maryland Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in March 1994.
Curtis previously worked at Eastern Correctional Institution as a correctional officer and case manager. For the last several years , he worked as a case manager for nonprofit agencies in Washington, DC and Northern Virginia areas and was loved and respected by the many clients he served.
In addition to his parents, Curtis is survived by two brothers, Trent (Wendy) of Eustis Florida, Craig (Karen) of Westover two sisters, Marita (Jerry) of Pocomoke City, and Terri (Greg) of Princess Anne. He is also survived by nieces, Rhonda, Ericka, Kimberly, Kelly, Katie, and Kandice, nephews Mike and Coty, great nieces, Rebekah, Haedyn and Raelynne, and great nephews Evan and Ian. He is also survived by an Aunt, Linda Boltz., and several cousins.
A graveside service will be held at Beechwood Cemetery, West Post Office Road, Princess Anne, Md. on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Arrangements are being handled by Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, Md.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Curtis may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 114 Baptist Street , Salisbury, Md. 21801.
