Obituary







Clifford Kirwin Parkinson,Jr., 75, of Mount Vernon went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2012, surrounded by family and friends at his residence. . Born in Mount Vernon, he was the son of the late Clifford K. Parkinson, Sr. and Elizabeth Jones Parkinson.
He was a 1955 graduate of Washington High School in Princess Anne. After his graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force, from 1955 to 1959. He worked for the MD. Division of Correction, for sixteen years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. He also had a seafood business, Parkinson's Seafood, for many years.
Affectionately known as "Pooney" to all his friends, he was an avid Yankees fan and loved to travel on cruises with his wife and friends. He loved being on the water and hanging out with his friends at the harbor in Mt. Vernon. He also attended the First Babtist Church in Princess Anne, Md.
Mr. Parkinson is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Katherine Horner Parkinson; a daughter Patty Culver and son-in- law Scott, a sister Anne Holland, a brother Carl Parkinson, a half sister Eva Chin, sister in law Joan Coble and husband Les, a brother in-law Bob Horner, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his Parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Grace (Lisa) Parkinson Hubbard as well as a special mother and father in law, Eleanor and Harold Horner.
The family wishes to thank two special caregivers, Diane Hall and Joanie Bloodsworth as well as the supportive and caring staff of Coastal Hospice for making Cliffords last days comfortable.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM., Saturday at the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, where friends may call from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. The Rev. James DeVaughn will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Asbury United Methodist Cemetery, in Mt. Vernon.
