Charles Edward Briddell Sr. (Ed) peacefully passed away at his home on September 3, 2021. Ed was born January 9, 1933. He was the son of John Paul Sr. and Annie Louise Bloodsworth Briddell. He is survived by his two children Charles Edward Briddell Jr.; his three children [Charles Edward Briddell III, Austin Michael Briddell, Katelyn Montgomery Briddell ] and daughter,Vicky Gallett and granddaughter Lindsay Gallett. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Briddell. His long time partner Rebecca Insley (Becky) died a few years ago and he is survived by her son Daryl Layfield Insley. Ed also has a brother William Bryan (Bill) Briddell. His other brothers John Paul Jr. George Robert (Cotton), Norman, James (Jim) and sisters; Millie Garber and Thelma all preceded him in death.
Ed was a veteran of the army and was assigned during the Korean War era. He retired from the Somerset County Roads department as a superintendent in 1980. He then worked as a supervisor for IA Roads Construction. He was devoted in his life with "Becky" until her death. A special recognition to Janet Culbertson and Debbie Gardner for their devoted and meticulous care given to "Mr. Ed" in his final days. He truly felt gratitude and appreciation for their care and his ability to stay in his home until his death. Ed will be laid to rest with a small graveside service at 1 pm Wednesday September 8, 2021 at the "Briddell"area of the Beachwood cemetery in Princess anne. MD.
