Charles "Buster" Edward Bozman, Princess Anne, went home to be with the Lord on November 7, 2011. Born in Dames Quarter on January 19, 1925, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Bozman. Buster was a graduate of Deal Island High School, followed by entering the military with the US Army. Buster served as an infantryman and was involved in the Normandy Beach Invasion on D- Day. Following this invasion Buster was an MP in the US Army for 3 years. He ended his military service with five medals of Honor.
After his return home from the service Buster joined the Maryland State Police where he served for 25 years. Upon his retirement from the State Police, Buster joined the Somerset County Sheriff's Department where he became a captain until he retired after 21 years of service.
He was a member of the Eastern Shore Baseball Foundation and in 2006 was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame and a member of the Walker Memorial Church of God where he served as a trustee. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed playing golf. Nothing meant more to him than spending time with his large family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years , Ada Jean Bozman, three children, Charles Bozman Jr. and his wife Sherry, Beverly Powell and her husband Rodwell, Vickie Laird and husband Brian. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Rusty Bozman (Jennifer), Tracy Bozman Lewis (Robert), Brian Laird Jr. , Katie Laird Travers, Matt Werth, Amy Prettyman (Chad), Ashley Powell, Stephen Werth (Brittney) and Eric Laird and eight great grandchildren, James and Oliva Bozman, Kristin and Alyssa Lewis, Tori and Cadyn Travers, and Grant and Bailey Prettyman. Also survived is his brother Stanley Bozman (Gertrude) and sister-in-law Margaret Bozman. His is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Debra, sister Mary Webster (Earl), and brother Walter and twin sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at Walker Memorial Church of God on Friday at 1:00 pm with visitation an hour prior. Visitation will be at Walker Memorial Church of God in Princess Anne Thursday evening from 6 -9 pm.
