Carolyn W. Mitchell, 79 died on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at her home here. Born in Salisbury on December 12, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Boyd Whitney and Madge Cole Whitney. A graduate of Washington High School in Princess Anne and Peninsula General Hospital School of Nursing in Salisbury, she was a retired Registered Nurse. Mrs. Mitchell was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Greatgrandmother who loved her family dearly. She is survived by her Husband, Robert L. Mitchell, Sr, two sons, Robert L. Mitchell Jr of Mt. Vernon and Steven Mitchell of Mt. Vernon. three grandchildren, Jason, Chris and Sara, two greatgrandchildren, Caden and Ellie with another greatgrandchild on the way. She is also survived by a brother, Boyd Whitney, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Alva, Florida. A Late grandchild was Sean Mitchell.
A Graveside service will be held on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Asbury United Methodist Cemetery in Mt. Vernon The Rev. Laura Dorsey will officiate. Contributions in her name may be made to a charity of your choice.
