Obituary

Brenda Meyer-Guido, 62, of Eden and formerly of Wharton, NJ and Princess Anne, MD, slipped quietly from this life on Monday, January 26, 2015, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Brenda was the daughter of the late Rachel Evans Meyer of Princess Anne and John A. Meyer of Graham, NC and the wife, best friend, and soulmate of John C. Guido of Eden.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her son Kerry Robert Chew, an infant son, her brother Jim Meyer, a nephew Christopher Meyer, a beloved aunt,Shelby Evans, a cousin Michael Evans, and several aunts and uncles. With her husband John, Brenda leaves to grieve 3 children: a son, Michael Doyle of Oxford, NJ, a daughter & son-in-law Jessica and Kevin Massey of Princess Anne, and a daughter Amber Lee, of Salisbury, and four grandchildren: Courtney Massey, Kevin Massey, and Sarah Massey of Princess Anne and Kaiden Waggoner of Salisbury. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Teri Campbell-Meyer of Oregon, sister-in-law Toni Guido Johnson and her husband Rob of Salisbury, and a brother-in-law Herman "Junior" Guido and his wife Bonta of Kentucky, 2 uncles Bunky Evans of Princess Anne and Teddy Evans of Salisbury, sister Anne Meyer Alexander of Princess Anne, several nieces, a nephew, beloved cousins, and many friends. She will be deeply missed by all.
Growing up, Brenda's family moved often, but with her family roots in Princess Anne, she considered it to be her home. She attended Washington High School briefly and graduated from Morris Hills High School (NJ) in 1970. She lived in Wharton, NJ until 1986 when she returned to her hometown.
Brenda had many talents and interests throughout her life, and found joy in the simple things. She loved the outdoors, walking in the woods and making crafts from items she found in nature. As a young woman, Brenda was an avid gardener, baker, and seamstress - things she continued to enjoy even into her later years. She was a collector of antiques, baskets, and unique vintage items. She worked in retail for many years, and her smile is still remembered by many of the customers and coworkers at the former Revco pharmacy in Princess Anne. She later handled the office and administrative work for her husband's
former business, Eastern Termite & Pest Control and was instrumental in its growth and success. But perhaps her favorite pastime was spending time and making many precious memories with her 4 grandchildren, who called her Mimi. In the days before her passing, Brenda reaffirmed her faith and trust in Jesus as her Savior and has been made new. She is now joyously reunited with God and her loved ones who went on to Heaven before her.
A funeral service to honor Brenda will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne. Friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with internment at the Olivet Church Cemetery on Old Furnace Road near Eden. The Rev. Houston Hill will officiate. Family & friends will gather after the services for food and fellowship in the Olivet Church reception hall.
Contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice. PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md 21802
