Betty Mae French, 95 of here passed away on January 7, 2022.
She was born in Federalsburg on June 6, 1926.
She was an independent person who pursued life on her terms. She left home at an early age to support herself in Salisbury. While her life was not an easy one, she enjoyed being with her friends and living life.
She owned her daycare business when it was not a common thing for a woman to do. She took care of many children. Leaving the shirt factory, she managed her son's Brown Derby Food Store in Princess Anne until her retirement. She served many patrons with her wonderful cooking.
After retirement she spent summers in Onancock, Va next to the water with her husband, where they met many special friends. In her early years she loved to sing and dance and was known to be the last one on the dance floor. She loved to yard sale, play solitaire, and do crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her children, Carol Beauchamp (Salisbury), TG Hutchinson (Pam) (Princess Anne), Gary Hutchinson (Millville , Delaware), Greg French (Stephanie) (Hanover Ct), and Sherry L. Cook (Ken) (Salisbury). Her grandchildren are Lisa Coleman (Nanticoke, Md), Sammy Beauchamp (Salisbury), Woody Beauchamp (Hurlock), Wendy Nelson (Salisbury), Kelly Johnson (Princess Anne), Judy Yudkin, Eric French and Juliette Berry (all of Ct).
