Beatrice Beauchamp Martin

SALISBURY – Beatrice Beauchamp "Bea" Martin, 83 formerly of Princess Anne, died Thursday, 4 October 2012, in Salisbury.
She is in the presence of Almighty God and His Mighty Angels due to her unwavering trust and faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. Heaven was her heart's desire, since August 7 1948, and is now a better place when she entered.
Bea was born May 7, 1929 in Birdsnest Va., a daughter of George and Annie Mae Hearn Beauchamp of Birdsnest. Bea, after graduating in 1948 from Washington High School, moved from her home near Dublin, and her friends in the Cokesbury and Perryhawkin area to start her life away from home working in Princess Anne as a waitress and later worked at Dupont in Seaford Delaware before marrying her late husband, Frank in 1952.
She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Princess Anne, from 1951-1983, was very active in the Fellowship Hall dinners, Methodist Youth Foundation, and was later an active member member of Union United Methodist Church on Union Church Road in Salisbury; where she loved her brothers and sisters in Christ there whom she loved.
She then began the life journey and one of her greatest life joys in choosing to forgo a career in the workplace and became a homemaker in 1958 and raised, as a faithful mother her two sons.
Bea was also active in the Boys Scout Programs in the 1960s, as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Troop 145 in Princess Anne; even opening her home to host numerous events and projects the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts worked on.
She worked for brief periods for Dr. Richard Bevan in Princess Anne and also served as a staff member of the Somerset County Cafeteria Board serving school children in the lunch programs.
Bea served her husband, quietly behind the scenes in helping sew and repair used uniforms for youth, obtained from her trips with her husband Frank, to Baltimore to obtain used uniforms from the Baltimore Recreation Programs. She did this as her husband founded the Princess Anne Little League program, that played its first games at Maryland State College's, now the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Athletic Fields under a Little League Instructional Charter program for two years in 1968 and 1969. In 1970, the Princess Anne Little League was officially chartered from Williamsport Pa., and her quiet behind the scenes supportive efforts provided the first uniforms for use by the youth that first played its games at then Greenwood Elementary School.
Bea was a Worthy Matron of Manokin Lodge 109 Order of the Eastern Star in Princess Anne. She enjoyed golf, during her husband's retirement years, as a member of Winter Quarters Golf Club and enjoyed square dancing with her friends as a member of the Ocean Waves Dance Club of Salisbury.
Most of all, Bea was known as a friend of anyone she met. Always expressing sincere joy to meet new people wherever she went. This was her way of showing the love of Christ that dominated her heart, her thoughts and her actions in her life. This was most evidenced as a mother in the love and joy she had for her sons, their wives and her grandchildren.
She thoroughly loved working in the garden and with flowers ad travelling to the flower and garden shops to see the new flowers and plants presented annually throughout the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. Her last day here in the Land of the Living was spent doing these simple life joys on the farm she labored for and loved so dearly. She loved to talk to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ God, alone, doing these thing.
Bea is survived by two sons, Leslie "Les" Martin and his wife, Linda Sines Martin of Salisbury and Robert "Bobby" Martin and his wife, Traci Bridelle Martin, of Princess Anne: three grandsons, Joseph Elijah and his wife Corrine Elise of Hebron, Justin Henry and Jacob Walton of Salisbury; three granddaughters, Katie Lee and Lindsey Ann Martin of Princess Anne, and Leslie Frances Martin of Salisbury Maryland; her brother Eugene P. Beauchamp of Dublin, his sons Gary and Kevin and Bea's special niece June whom she loved dearly and her brother-in-law Thomas J. "Tommy" Martin of destin Florida.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband of 57 and a half years Francis Lee, her brothers George, John, and sister Mary.
