Salisbury – Beatrice Marie Dryden Foxwell, 103 years of age, of Mallard Landing, passed away peacefully Saturday 25 April 2015 in her home surrounded by the love of her caregivers.
Beatrice, daughter of the late Edgar and Sallie Tilghman Dryden, was born 18 November 1911 on a farm in the Rehobeth section of Somerset County, a few miles from Pocomoke City.
A 1929 graduate of Marion High School's academic course, Beatrice was captain of the Marion High School field ball team when the team won the Somerset County championship. After her husband of 61 years passed away in 1996, Beatrice moved to a Manokin Manor apartment in Princess Anne and finally to Mallard Landing in Salisbury where she remained until her death.
Beatrice was a lifelong member of the Rehobeth Presbyterian Church and a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon. She sang with the choirs of both churches. Beatrice was known for her beautiful voice and sang many hymns from memory, with or without accompaniment. Beatrice was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Naticoke Chapter, and of the Wicomico Chapter no. 91 of the Eastern Star.
