Barbara Ellen Walters, 77, of Deal Island, passed away peacefully at Coastal Hospice at the Lake on Sunday, September 27, 2026, just one day shy of her 78th birthday.

Born in Salisbury on September 28, 1948, Barbara was raised in Dames Quarter and was the daughter of the late Edwin and Mary Frances Adams Bozman. She was a proud graduate of the Deal Island High School Class of 1966.

Barbara was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and making a home filled with love. She also worked on the water and spent many years as a house cleaner, working side by side with her best friend, Erika Ford.

Of all the roles she held throughout her life, being a mother and especially a “Mom-Mom” was the one she cherished most. Her family was truly her greatest joy. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and took endless delight in doting on her grandchildren. Her love was generous, her heart was big, and her family always knew how deeply they were cherished.

Barbara was an avid reader and found comfort and enjoyment in a good book. She was also a beloved member of St. John’s Church, where she loved baking for fundraisers and church events. Her kindness, warm spirit, and willingness to help others will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Barbara leaves behind her devoted husband of 32 years, Robert M. “Bobby” Walters of Deal Island; her two children, Keith Courtney (Kelly) of Princess Anne and Angela Benton McCoy of Dames Quarter; two step-children, Robert Walters (Tammy) of Hebron and William Walters (Ashley) of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, Lauren McCoy (Cris Sullivan), Jacob Courtney, Olivia Courtney, Reagan Walters, Colin Walters, Mackenzie Walters, and Payton Walters; two great-grandchildren, Braelynn McCoy and Callum Sullivan; an uncle, David Adams of Princess Anne; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Frances Lawrence, who held an especially special place in her heart; her brother Danny Bozman, and son -in-law, Corey McCoy; and several aunts and uncles.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the many lives she touched, the love she gave so freely, and the family she treasured above all else. Her greatest legacy will be the love she poured into those around her and the memories that will be carried in their hearts for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2026, at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Church in Deal Island. Pastors Dave Webster and Billy Walters will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne.
