IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara L
Carey
May 11, 1944 – October 24, 2024
Princess Anne - Barbara L Carey, of Princess Anne, MD passed away on October 24th, 2024 at 80 years of age. She was born in 1944 in Hastings, PA as one of seven children. She is survived by her brother Roy Olin Lloyd, age 82, her son Neal Carey Jr., his wife Leslie, her granddaughter Arynthea, and her son in law Gary Beauchamp & grandson Lee Beauchamp. Her daughter Shawn L Beauchamp predeceased her seven years earlier. Barbara passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Barbara graduated high school at Northern Cambria High School in Pennsylvania in 1962. Not long after that, she moved to the Eastern Shore of MD where she lived most of her life at her house on Harry Riggin Rd in Eastern Somerset Co. Living out in the Pocomoke Forest, she was known by just about everyone. She may have been bringing you the most recent issue of the Guide, she may have just got the next round at Buck's Store, or more likely you passed her for the 3rd time today out on those back country roads. Barb drove a lot. Between her 1979 Toyota Corolla Station wagon, her 1997 Ford Ranger Step Side, and the 2006 Ford Mustang, we are talking 1,600,000 miles from 1980 to 2022. Her favorite things in life were breakfast at the Sage Diner in Salisbury, chewing Double Mint gum, and Coors Lights at Post 94 American Legion in Princess Anne, MD.
Barb liked to work in her yard. Her favorite times of the year were when her row of red azaleas would bloom, and she also loved her giant rhododendron. After raising her 2 children and seeing them start families of their own, her true passion in life started.
Visiting. Hence the 1,600,000 miles. Mom always stopped at my house and Shawn's house every Sunday for years. She would watch football with us, then stop at Shawn's house for food. She hated cooking. Then she would ride home. Most of the people in the neighborhood were part of this too, they just didn't know it. Because you saw it when she was at Bucks, or Sage Diner, or Wawa, or beers and scratch offs at the Legion in Princes Anne.
Barbara was a constant presence in everyone's life she loved. She was totally devoted to her friends, loved her family immensely, and if she didn't like you, she held a grudge. The small deeds she did for so many people would change your day. Riding around sharing the joy and spreading the sunshine. Again, 1,600,000 miles and we are not including the miles from her 1967 Chevelle or her Cadillac from the 70s. She will be missed dearly. So dear reader, it is on you to pick up that Guide now.
We will be having a Celebration of Life for Barbara at the American Legion, Post 94 in Princess Anne, MD on November 2nd from 3 - 5 pm. To express condolences to the family, visit www.hinmanfuneralhome.com
