Obituary

Mt. Vernon - Barbara (Bobbi) Abbott Murray, 71, of Mt. Vernon, MD, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 10, 2023.

She was born February 12, 1952 to the late Gilbert and Anna Mae Somers Abbott of St. Stephens, MD.

Bobbi graduated from Washington High School in 1970. She received her RN degree from Wor-Wic Community College as a member of the first class to graduate from their nursing program all while working at PGH. She later worked for the cardio thoracic surgeons as an operating room nurse, first assistant for seventeen years.

Bobbi was diagnosed with Addison's disease in the late 1990s because of the hepatitis B vaccine. Due to medical complications from her diagnosis, she left her position as an operating room nurse and was able to take the position of OR charge nurse. As her health further declined, she made the decision to take an early retirement.

Bobbi enjoyed sewing, shopping, and the beach-especially Cape Hatteras. She adored her children and grandchildren.

Bobbi was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Matthew Nielsen; her mother and father-in-law, John, and Dorothy Murray; her great-nephew, Shane Abbott; and her brothers in law, Larry Schrader, and Skip Logan.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Murray; son, Jamie LeKites (Kim); daughter, Jenna Murray (Mark Fetzer); grandchildren, Wyatt LeKites, Dale Fetzer, Rallee and Bristol Evans and Karson LeKites. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly Webb (Bill); sisters-in-law, Debbie Schrader, Barbara Logan, and Lisa Ford (Darin); and brother-in-law, Richard Murray (Rachel); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Hinman Funeral Home, in Princess Anne at 1 PM. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Saint Peter's cemetery in Oriole, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Adrenal Disease Foundation, www.nadf.us or Saint Peter's Church, C/O Vicky Laird, 28179 Venton Rd., Princess Anne, MD.
