IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ada Jean
Bozman
July 10, 1928 – June 17, 2023
Princess Anne - Ada Jean Bozman, age 94 of Princess Anne, MD, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 17, 2023. She went peacefully, holding the hands of her two daughters, after a short stay at Tawes Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
Jean was born on July 10,1928 in Dames Quarter, MD to John R. and Ada Bozman and raised by George and Fannie Shores (Nannie and Poppa) also of Dames Quarter. She graduated from Deal Island High School in 1946. She went to work in Princess Anne at a shirt factory. After her children went to school, she went to work at Winton Gouge Hatchery as a secretary and later to E. Mace Smith, where she speaks fondly of her bosses Bill Miller, Gary, and Daryl Miller. After a fire that destroyed the business, she retired. She continued being busy with her own cleaning business in Ocean City and product sampling jobs in local stores.
She loved the Lord and served him as a member of Walker Memorial Church of God in Princess Anne, MD. There she took on many jobs including Sunday School teacher, church dinners and Ladies' Ministry. She was active with her senior group, where prior to COVID they would meet every Tuesday to sing to the patients of Manokin Manor Nursing Home, followed by lunch afterwards. She also enjoyed the Red Hatters Society, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Jean is survived by her daughter Beverly Powell (Roddy), Vickie Laird (Brian), daughter in law Sherry Bozman, grandchildren Rusty Bozman (Jenn), Tracy Lewis (Robert), Brian Laird Jr. (Rachel), Katie Eby (Jeff), Matthew Werth, Amy Prettyman (Chad), Stephen Werth (Brittney), Ashley Shanholtzer (Patrick), Eric Laird (Kellie), great grandchildren Kristen Lewis and Alyssa Lewis, James Bozman, Victoria Travers, Olivia Bozman, Cadyn Travers, Grant Prettyman, Bailey Prettyman, Lukas Laird, Jensen Laird, Landon Shanholtzer, Martie Laird, Maren Laird, Hudson Shanholtzer, Aubrie Laird and a great-great granddaughter and her namesake Vadah Jean Bradshaw, her sister in law Ann Bozman, Gertrude Bozman and Lorraine Bozman. A special memory and fondness to Sandy Jones that was thought of as a daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Ada Bozman, George and Fannie Shores, and Osborne and Louise Ford, her husband Charles Bozman Sr. (Buster), her son Charles Bozman Jr., daughter Deborah Bozman, siblings Evelyn Long, Howard Bozman, Glendon Bozman, Norma Cugler, Elbert Bozman, Topsy Revell, Barbara Willing and a special cousin Edwin Ford.
A very special thank you to her caregiver Diane Hall, who she truly loved, and they enjoyed each other's company. To all of Jean's caregivers who gave her special love: Janet Cross, Barbara Dryden, Tori, and Cadyn Travers. You all had a special way of making her feel safe even when dementia made her feel otherwise.
To the doctors, nurses and staff at Tawes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, thank you very much for the care you gave to "Ms. Ada." You are special people to do what you do, and we thank you for loving her.
A service will be held on Friday, June 23rd at Walker Memorial Church of God at 2:00 pm. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Tim Shawyer and David Webster will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Ford-Bozman cemetery in Dames Quarter, MD. Arrangements are in the care of Hinman Funeral Home.
