Obituary

Westover - Abram Donald Minnich, 91, of Westover, MD went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2025.  Born on September 16, 1933 in Ephrata, PA, Abe was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.  Abe's love and care touched the lives of everyone he knew.

Abe's faith in God was his compass.  This became evident by the manner in which he interacted with his family, friends, church members and co-workers.  His wisdom and gentle demeanor drew people to him.  He was always ready with good advice, encouragement and a beautiful smile.

Abe shared all but one week of 72 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Marolyn Minnich.  Together they raised their family that included children of their own and children they called their own; daughters Debbie (Jim) Beauchamp, Tina (Bunky) Sterling, Lynn (Jewell) Fluharty and their son Steve Minnich who predeceased him in 1985. They also shared their home with three sisters; Debbie, Cheryl and Carla.

Abe is the grandfather of Amy Beauchamp Fobear who predeceased him in 2012, Marlo Burke, baby Marci Esley who died at birth, Caryn Kunkle, Matthew (Megan) Ennis and Candi(Austin) Ardnt.

Abe has four great grandchildren; Jace Fobear, Dominick, Ariana, and Chloie Burke and is also survived by his sister Mary Ann (Hershey) Bare of PA along with many nieces and nephews. Abe was blessed to remain close to his daughter in law Joyce (Greg) Raglow and their children Kateri, A.J. and Sean.

Abe was also preceded in death by his parents Reynolds H. and Esther (Landis) Minnich, his brother R. Herbert Minnich, his sister Mabel Jean Weaver.

Abe graduated from Eastern Mennonite School in Harrisonburg, VA and married Marolyn Joyce King in 1953. They worked for two years in 1-W service in Connecticut and made many life-long friends there. He served as pastor to Holly Grove Mennonite Church in the late 50's and early 60's and spent his remaining career years as controller over accounting and financial divisions of Rubberset and Carvel Hall in Crisfield, MD.  Abe was one of several co-founders of Holly Grove School in Westover, MD and a devoted member of Holly Grove Mennonite Church where in addition to pastoring, he served as an elder.

Abe will be remembered for his generosity and his warm welcoming demeanor to all he encountered.  He taught his family the meaning of God's love toward His children by being a wonderful example of a loving father and grandfather. Our lives were made easier because he was in the world. He will be missed so very much.

One of Abe's favorite verses was found in Philippians 4:6-7 and he had this verse displayed on his desk.  "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

A celebration of life service will be held on March 29th at Holly Grove Mennonite Church in Westover, MD at noon followed by a fellowship meal in the fellowship hall.
