WILLIAM HENRY BEDSWORTH, JR.

Dames Quarter, Md.—William Henry Bedsworth, Jr. 86, died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at his home in Dames Quarter. He was born July 12, 1924 in Champ, Md. to the late William Henry and Lena Bedsworth.

Mr. Bedsworth was a 1942 graduate of Washington High School, in Princess Anne.  He worked for Dresser Industries , retiring after 37 years of employment. He was a member of the Somerset United Methodist Church, in Dames Quarter and he enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors.

Mr. Bedsworth is survived by his wife of 65 years,   Gladys C. “Tootsie”  Bedsworth, his daughter Terri Wallace and husband Barry, of Salisbury , his son Gregory L. Bedsworth and wife Donna of Delmar, DE.   His children were his pride and joy during his lifetime. He has two granddaughters, Heather Adkins and husband David and  Heidi Payne and husband Woody, three great-grandchildren, Jade McIntyre, Summer McIntyre and Luke Hackett. He has two surviving sisters, Mary Garvey and Margaret Donalds, both of Salisbury along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a brother Tom Bedsworth, a sister Anna Ballentine, a stepsister Addie Walters and a stepbrother Harold Bedsworth.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, where Friends may call one hour Prior to the service. The Rev. William Kniceley and Carol Loy will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the St. Peters Cemetery in Oriole.  Memorial Contributions in his memory can be made to the Somerset United Methodist Church c/o Debbie Jacobson, 11150 Messick Road, Dames Quarter, Md. 21821 or to Coastal Hospice at PO. Box 1733 Salisbury, Md. 21802.
