Mt. Vernon – Edna Marie Rhodes Logan, 97, passed away while listening to her favorite hymns accompanied by her daughter-in-law Barbara Logan on April 16, 2022.
Born in Baltimore, MD on October 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Allen Goodwin and Virginia Madeline Fawcett Rhodes.
After graduation from high school, Edna met her husband Ralph Benjamin Logan, Jr. through employment at Cloverland Dairy. Their marriage on September 23, 1950 lasted 65 years until his passing in 2015.
Their only child, Ralph B. Logan III, (Skip) was born November 6, 1951. He and his wife Barbara were married 47 years until his death in November 2019.
In 1969 Bud retired from the dairy and Edna resigned her position at the Baltimore States Attorney’s office. They moved to Mt. Vernon to operate Logan’s store. Their last working together was at Peninsula Bank, she as a secretary to the Vice President and he as a courier.
In addition to her parents, husband and son, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Feldt (George) and Virginia Humphries, two sisters in law Peggy Kees (Palmer) and Frances Stine (Charles) and father-in-law, Ralph B. Logan, Sr. (Margaret)
Surviving in addition to her daughter-in-law Barbara are two grandchildren, Jeffrey Allen Logan (Kelly) and Jennifer Marie Logan (Douglas) and five great-grandchildren Lauren (Cody), Devin, and Allyson Logan and Taylor and Nathan Hoffman along with eight nieces and nephews.
Manokin Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center assisted Barbara to provide exceptional transitional care from the nursing home to independent living and back to the nursing home for respite care in Edna’s final two years.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, April 25, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Asbury United Methodist at the graveside in Mount Vernon.
