Cora Mason Widdowson

Princess Anne – Cora Mason Widdowson of here, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Atria Assisted Living in Salisbury.

Born on May 7, 1925 in Mt. Vernon, Md. she was the daughter of the late Albert and Aleta Mason.

She graduated from Washington High School and retired from the Somerset County Treasurer’s Office. She was an active member of the Maryland Farm Bureau and served as president of the Maryland Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princess Anne since 1947 where she taught primary Sunday school, Girl’s Auxiliary, Bible School and served as Sunday School Superintendent. Cora enjoyed traveling with her husband Neal, attending Farm Bureau conventions, and later with her son’s family, watching her grandson’s swim meets and vacationing in Aruba for more than 10 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Winfred Widdowson (2000), Brothers Albert “Boots” Mason and Earl Mason and his wife Juanita.

She is survived by her two children, Juanita Widdowson of Tazewell, TN, and Neal Widdowson (Tory) of Salisbury, MD, grandchildren, Ashley Greenhawk (TN) and Neal “Whit”field of Springfield, KY, sister in laws, Frances Mason and Barbara Widdowson, brother in law Carl Widdowson and several nieces and nephews.

We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Atria and Coastal Hospice for their love and care given to our mother during the last months.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Hinman Funeral Home, P.A. in Princess Anne, Md. where friends may call Saturday evening from 6-8:00 P.M. Interment will be in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cemetery in Princess Anne. Reverends Bill Horner and Jamie Devaughn will officiate.

    As I know you know. Miss Cora was a very special person. She hand held me to know somerset County farm bureau. She meant so much to me and Larry adored her. So very sorry for the loss you are feeling.
