Princess Anne – Walter James Powell, 82, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018.
Born July 9, 1935 in Somerset County, he was the son of the late Francis and Mavah (Larmore) Powell. He was a welder and worked for several contractors at Wallops Island, VA. Walt loved to fish and garden. Sharing the fruits of his labor from his garden brought him great joy. He was a member of the Redmen Lodge #149 of Fruitland and a lifetime member of the Salisbury American Legion Post 64.
He is survived by his daughters, Teresa West and her spouse Lee of Princess Anne, MD and Wendy Powell and her spouse Yvette Hess of Silver Spring, MD., grandchildren Taylor and Dillon West, long-time companion Marybell Huntington of Salisbury, brother in law, Lee Russell of Ohio, several nieces and nephews, and his dog Rumbley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Mae Pusey and Jane Russell, and brother Douglas Powell.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne. Reverend Eddie Daniels will officiate.
