Mount Vernon – Linda P. Benton, 69, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 25, 1948 in Salisbury, Md., she was the daughter of Mary “Peanut” Pietroski of Princess Anne and the late Joe “Pete” Pietroski. She had worked as an assistant director of Somerset County Social Services. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved Sunday dinners with her family, line dancing, traveling and a team captain for Relay for Life for many years. Linda was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon where she was serving as treasurer, a lifetime member of Skipjack Heritage, Inc., and a lifetime member of the Mt. Vernon Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary where she served as the first treasurer.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Walton H. Benton, Sr. of Mt. Vernon, 3 children, Lisa Fortune (Brian), Karen White, and Walton Benton, Jr. (Kim), siblings, Joey Pietroski (Karen), and Jerry Pietroski (Debbie), brother-in-laws, Clifton Benton (Wanda) and Delmas Benton (Vicki), sisters-in-law, Donna White and Bonnie Muir (Mike), grandchildren, Jessica Pittman, Sarah Radd, Chad and Olivia White, Brookie and Colton Benton and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Reverend Joseph Cain will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Asbury U.M. Church, 13263 Renshaw Rd., Princess Anne.

Linda brought joy and laughter to everyone she was around. So sorry for the loss of this wonderful woman.
