Robert Lee Kelly, Sr.

Robert “Bobby” Lee Kelly, 79, of Wenona, passed away on Wednesday, November 1,’ at Peninsula Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born November 19, 1937, son of the late Clark and Emma Kelly of Wenona.

Bobby graduated from Deal Island School with the Class of 1955. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. After his military service, he worked for the Department of
Natural Resources and the Salisbury City Police Department before beginning his career at the Campbell
Soup Company in Salisbury. He retired from there after 35 years of service as a supervisor.

Bobby was a lifetime member of the Deal Island Lions Club and VFW Post #94 in Princess Anne. He also served on many committees including the Democratic committee, the Somerset County Liquor Board and the Somerset County Board of Education.

He enjoyed sports, talking politics and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered by many for his kindness and willingness to help everyone in his community.

He is survived by a son Roy Clark Kelly and his wife, Shelly, of Deal Island; a son Robert Lee Kelly, Jr. of Princess Anne; a sister, Joanne Wessells of Salisbury and a sister-in-law, Nettie Kelly of Salisbury. He is also survived by grandchildren Michelle Lynn Kelly and Katie Elaine Kelly of Deal Island; Justin Roger Kelly and Ashley Meredith Kelly of Westover; Robert “Lee” Kelly III of Princess Anne; and a great grandson Wesyn Webster. Additionally, he is survived by his dear friend Diana White of Salisbury. He is also survived by nephews Kelly Miller of Salisbury; Mike Kelly of Salisbury; Kenny Kelly of Salisbury and nieces Lisa Griffin of Salisbury, Kathy Hayward of Salisbury; Laurie Pearson.

Bobby was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth Kelly and Joey Kelly, both from Wenona; and nephew Mickey Kelly of Wenona.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 5, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Wenona from 1- 2. A celebration of his life will begin at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery. David
Webster will officiate. Memorial donations in his honor can be sent to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 54, Wenona, MD 21821.

    Thoughts and prayers go out to a wonderful family. Mr. Bobby was dedicated to his family and did so much for the community. He left a great legacy.
