Virgil T. Leath, Sr.

Virgil Thomas “ Tommy” Leath, Sr. 79, of Princess Anne, passed away on Saturday, September 30,  2017 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake.

Born in Tennessee on March 7, 1938, he was the son of the late William Leath and Dorothy Perry.  He moved to Somerset County in the late 60’s. Tommy was a mechanic all of his life serving many in his community and he used those skills when he served in the U.S. Navy. Tommy retired when his late wife, Bonnie (2015) was diagnosed with Alzheimer ’s disease. He took care of her for the duration of her illness which lasted 7 years.

Tommy is survived by his children, Virgil T. Leath, Jr. of Mt. Vernon, Cindy Leath Watson of Vero Beach, Fla., and Donnie Leath of Murfreesboro, TN, three stepchildren, Brooks Holt of Princess Anne, Vicki Holt of Ocean View, De. and Audrey Cornelius of Princess Anne, siblings Laura Bentley, Bobby Leath (Janice), William Bolden (Elaine), Connie Boston (Jerry), Kay Cowger (Bobby), Jeff Perry (Sandy), as well as several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and step grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers David Bolden and Billy Wayne Leath.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 19, 2017 at St. Peter’s U.M. Cemetery in Oriole, Md. Reverend William Knicely will officiate.
