Michael Thomas Ake

Michael T. Ake, 70 of here died on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Salisbury on January 14, 1947, he was the son of the late Melvin T. Ake and Elsie Taylor Ake. Mike served in the Army National Guard and had been employed as a forklift operator for the former Dresser Industries in Salisbury for over 36 years. He had also worked at Eastern Correctional Institute in Westover and for the Pohanka Automotive Group in Salisbury. Mike was a devoted Father and Grandfather. He was a member of Allen Asbury United Methodist Church in Allen and a life member of Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company. Mike loved collecting classic cars and guns.  He especially enjoyed his Elk hunting trips.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patsy E. Ake, his daughter, Terri Fike and her husband, Jim of Easton, three grandchildren, Courtney Fike, Trace Fike and Brody Fike, and two sisters, Linda Payne and Jean Elias and her husband Chick, both of Salisbury. A late son was Michael T. Ake, Jr, a late brother was Russell Truitt and a late sister was June Smith.

In accordance with his wishes a graveside service will be held in Allen Cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 19th, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Kelly Conner will officiate.  Following the service, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Allen Community Hall.

The family would like to thank the staff of 5 East and 3 East at PRMC as well as the staff of Coastal Hospice for the care and compassion they showed him during his stay.
