Philip C. Widdowson, Sr.

Philip C. Widdowson, Sr. 91 of here died on Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.  Born on Sept. 25, 1924 at the family farm in Revells Neck near Westover, he was a son of the late Lloyd T. Widdowson and Christena Metz Widdowson.   Mr. Widdowson retired as County Executive Director for USDA after 30 years of service.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Princess Anne and a former member of Somerset Ruritan, Princess Anne Lions Club and Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Widdowson is survived by his wife, Mary Virginia Widdowson.  They would have been married for 70 years on Nov,. 10, 2015.  Mr. Widdowson is also survived by four children, Philinda Etcher and her husband, John of Yorktown, Virginia, Philip C. Widdowson, Jr. of Revells Neck, Keith M. Widdowson and his wife, Hattie of Princess Anne and Kevin Widdowson and his wife, Paige of Princess Anne. Four grandchildren,  Christina Harrison and her husband John, Beth Showalter and her husband, Mike, Ian Etcher and his wife, Katie and Hannah Widdowson. Seven great-grandchildren, Philip Showalter, Tabitha Showalter, William Showalter, Etcher Harrison, Slater Harrison, Blaise Harrison and Logan Etcher.
He was one of twelve children born to Lloyd and Christena Widdowson. He is survived by one Sister, Barbara Boston and her husband, Wallace of Hampstead, Md., sister-in-laws Joyce Webster and Nell Widdowson, a brother-in-law, Gordon Wagner, and many nieces and nephews.  Late brothers and sisters were, Luther Widdowson, Arthur Widdowson, Carlisle Widdowson, Geneva Werner, Norma Edler, Lloyd Widdowson, Jr., Austin Widdowson, Ava Slavin, Freddie Widdowson and Christena Wagner.
A Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.  Interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne.
